Fatal Familial Insomnia is a dire affliction, a true death sentence for those unfortunate enough to endure it. Known as one of the rarest diseases on the planet, there have been barely a hundred documented cases. I had the rare privilege to converse with someone afflicted by this condition. Their raw and unedited post on Reddit is featured at the beginning of this book. It was their last wish to inspire a novel centered on their experience. Though I never learned their name, I poured my heart into crafting the story they desired. I sincerely hope they have found tranquility, and that their legacy endures through the pages of this novel.
